I finally got around to pulling the motor out of my 280Z this weekend.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Once I get it cleaned off a little and on a dolly I can start moving the wiring harness and vac tubes. Then to the welding!

Very nice. What motor is going back in?

Same motor is going back in... but it will be stronger, faster and lighter.

Most likely head work, new/larger valves, new pistons and con-rods, lighter flywheel. I haven't decided if I'll be keeping stock FI system. Looking for about ~220 HP to the wheels.

I plan on talking to Datsun Spirit later this month.

Looking good :) I must get myself one of those engine hoists. I've currently got a winch attached to the garage ceiling which means you have to either position things under it or lug them yourself :S

220bhp at the wheels would be ~265bhp at the flywheel, so that should absolutely fly!

I got mine off craigslist. It's a 2 ton unit that's adjustable with fold up legs. It fit in the back of my GTI for the ride home.

So far it's worked perfect.

I may be a little optimistic on my power wants, but I prefer to dream big,

Yeah I need to pick up a cheap Chinese one really. If it's good enough for the guys on Roadkill it's good enough for me :)

I vote ITBs. You'll get more power and it'll sound like the God of internal combustion :)

Funny you say that. I really want them! If they weren't so damn expensive!

Hubba hubba!

Titanium coating that's been heated on one side?

Yeah I thought it would have been heated. I know stainless discolours a lot, but I didn't think it was as dramatic as that. Perhaps it is titanium...

Look into a 3.1 L stroker conversion. It's pretty bad ass. Uses the same block and head as the 280. My dad has one in a 240z, it's supper fast and at least 350 hp.
